LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Lexington Police have received 2,000 anonymous tips through their Bluegrass Crime Stoppers program so far this year.
Detective Kristyn Klingshirn, who serves as the Bluegrass Crime Stoppers liaison, said the tips have covered everything from traffic violations to murders. The program allows people to submit information to police while remaining completely anonymous.
How the tip system works
When people call the tip line, calls come to a landline in Klingshirn’s office without caller ID. If she’s not available to answer, calls go to an out-of-state call center. However, most tips are submitted through an online portal.
