Emergency weather plan activates in Lexington as temperatures drop

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — The Office of Homelessness Prevention and Intervention (OHPI) activated its Emergency Winter Weather Plan on Thursday.

With temperatures dropping into the 20s and 30s, the Emergency Winter Weather Plan will be in effect from Dec. 18 through Dec. 22.

Under the plan, emergency shelters will operate with additional capacity and relaxed restrictions, Lextran will provide free rides on fixed routes to the shelter, and outreach efforts will work to notify people about the weather…
