When is my trash getting collected in Lexington the weeks of Christmas, New Year’s?

If you’re hosting holiday parties or planning to take down your tree promptly after Christmas Thursday, you may have to wait longer than usual to roll your cart to the curb for Lexington trash collection.

City waste crews won’t collect garbage and recycling Thursday, Dec. 25 or Thursday, Jan. 1 in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s holiday. Those who typically are served Thursday will have their carts collected Friday, Dec. 26 and Wednesday, Dec. 31 instead. Collection for business dumpsters will see the same alterations as household waste collection.

“Place trash and recycle carts out the night before your makeup day after 4 p.m. since trucks may arrive early in the morning,” the city said in its announcement.

In addition to altered Thursday collection, the city will also not collect yard waste, paper bags and bulk bundles the week of Christmas. Instead, yard waste be collected again beginning next week, Monday, Dec. 29…
