Lexington volunteers serve home-cooked meals to those in need

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — One community in Lexington is working to make sure neighbors are fed this holiday. Community members are coming together to ensure their neighbors have a home-cooked meal for the holidays.

Volunteers worked on Wednesday to prepare, package, and deliver meals to those in need. This year, volunteers provided more than 80 meals to families and unhoused individuals living in the community.

“We just moved into this neighborhood, and I’m just so amazed,” Hildi Singer said. “The people here are just so amazing. These are neighbors. They’re just people who live all around us who have kind hearts and want to see people fed.”

“When we started putting the call out, more and more people responded, and we were sort of shocked at just how big this had become this year,” Martha Picinich said. “With all the food insecurity that’s been going on this year, we just feel like we need to be there.”
