3.4 magnitude earthquake shakes Garrard County

LANCASTER, Ky. (FOX 56) — The National Weather Service confirmed an earthquake Sunday in Garrard County that caused brief shaking across parts of the region.

The earthquake occurred around 12:47 p.m. Dec. 28, and the epicenter was located about seven miles from Lancaster, near the Kentucky River, according to the USGS earthquake tracker.

Some residents in nearby areas reported feeling the ground shake. Officials said no damage was reported as experts continue to review the data.
