Clark County Animal Shelter receives 14 animals days before Christmas

WINCHESTER, Ky. (FOX 56) — Tuesday was an emotionally exhausting day for the Clark County Animal Shelter as they took in 14 new animals.

According to staff members, they received two strays, and the other 12 were given up by their owners.

“This number isn’t really out of the ordinary, but the holidays make it hit a little harder. We would love to see our shelter and every shelter nearly empty for Christmas, but that just isn’t a reality. Animals are always in need, even on holidays,” staff wrote on Facebook on Dec. 23.

“Shelters exist to make sure animals are safe, warm and fed,” staff wrote. “But it’s still sad knowing that the animals don’t understand why they were given up.”…
