Woman drives to Lexington from Florida to reunite with microchipped cat after years apart

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – A stray cat brought to Lexington-Fayette Animal Care & Control in mid-December has been reunited with her original owner thanks to a microchip and a cross-state journey.

The cat, named Mochi, was scanned for a microchip when she arrived at the facility. Staff retrieved the registration information and contacted the woman listed on the chip.

The woman told animal control officials she had rehomed Mochi years ago and now lives in Florida…
