Measles cases rise in Kentucky as fewer people get vaccinated

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Kentucky is reporting 13 confirmed measles cases in 2025, part of a nationwide surge that a Lexington physician said is reaching levels not seen in 30 years.

Measles is one of the most contagious respiratory viruses, according to Baptist Health Pediatrician Dr. Jai Gilliam. Children, seniors, and immunocompromised people are the most vulnerable.
