Murder suspect spotted in Berea, dies while fleeing in fiery car crash

A high-speed police chase, that started in Berea today, ended in a fiery crash that killed the driver on I-64 in Franklin County.

According to Berea Police, Dalton Georgia Police discovered a body while investigating a house fire overnight, and the suspect was believed to be involved in the death of that person. An Attempt To Locate was issued for the suspect, and a FLOCK camera in Berea hit on the suspects Honda Civic earlier today in Berea. A Berea officer spotted the suspect and vehicle at the Speedway, off of Prince Royal Drive, and approached. That’s when the driver sped away. The ensuing pursuit spanned multiple counties and agencies.

During the chase, where speeds reportedly exceeded 100 miles per hour, the suspect crossed the median into oncoming traffic and collided with a semi-truck on I-64 around mile marker 53 near Frankfort. The crash resulted in the car bursting into flames. The Franklin County Coroner pronounced the suspect deceased on scene. The semi-truck driver, Marcus Boughten, age 50 of Waco, TX., was uninjured…
