Motion filed to delay federal trial for man tied to Kentucky overdose deaths

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Defense attorneys for Brian Epperson, the Winchester man tied to the overdose deaths of two Kentucky women, have filed a motion to delay the trial for “at least 90 days,” citing complexities in the logistics of the case, as well as discussions of “a proposed plea agreement.”

Counsel for Epperson’s defense filed the motion to continue the trial for “at least 90 days” on Jan. 12.

Epperson, 45, pleaded not guilty following an Oct. 16 federal indictment allegedly connecting him with the deaths of Kristen Morris and Reacheal Dawson in May and July 2025.

Court documents show that an investigation started on May 31, when 32-year-old Morris was found dead inside a Stanton Airbnb. She’d reportedly been staying there with Epperson, and the Powell County Coroner’s Office noted finding tablets filled with an unknown substance. More than 20 days after her death, investigators wrote that Morris had overdosed on methamphetamine, but her levels were unusually high…
