Frankfort animal shelter offers to help pet owners during winter storm

FRANKFORT, Ky. (FOX 56) — As winter weather moved into central Kentucky, staff and volunteers at L.I.F.E. House for Animals were already prepared to ensure pets stayed safe despite hazardous conditions.

“Animals, they still need their food and water and potty breaks, as usual,” volunteer coordinator at L.I.F.E. House for Animals, Meredith Plant, said. “They don’t care if it’s a holiday or a winter storm.”

The small but dedicated team said volunteers who lived close to the shelter were on standby in case travel became too dangerous. The volunteers stepped in to care for the dogs and cats inside the facility until road conditions improved.

“Our animals will be well taken care of, rest assured,” Plant said. “And we want people to take care of their beloved animals at home as well.”…
