Fayette County deputies activate free ride services for healthcare workers, medical needs

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — As sleet falls across most of Kentucky, officials with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office announced that its “Winter Care” program has activated, providing essential services for medical personnel and the county’s most vulnerable.

Officials with the sheriff’s office announced that services would begin at 6 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 25. Deputies would provide:

  • Rides to and from employment for Fayette County healthcare industry workers, or those who give direct healthcare services
  • Transportation to and from critical medical appointments, such as Chemotherapy or Dialysis
  • Checks for welfare for the county’s most vulnerable citizens
  • Winter coats for those in need
