Founder of non-profit raising millions for cancer patient support recognized

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Lexington Medical Society recognized Jonathan Feddock, MD, with its Jack Trevey Award for Community Service at the LMS Social Dinner this month.

Dr. Feddock is a radiation oncologist with Baptist Health Lexington and in 2014 channeled his passion for running into community outreach and philanthropy by creating a fundraiser, Ironcology, with a goal of raising money for radiology equipment at the University of Kentucky. Ironcology is now a non-profit which has raised almost $4 million with the focus of providing resources to cancer patients traveling far to Lexington for treatment with hotel rooms, meals, gas cards, and need-based grants.

Feddock is married to Dr. Shannon Florea and has two sons, Asher and Anderson. His wife and sons are heavily involved in orchestrating the Ironcology event. He finds inspiration from encouraging patients to embrace exercise and well-being as coping mechanisms for their cancer diagnosis…
