Lexington leaders acknowledge snow, ice frustration amid ongoing removal efforts

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — There was a lot to unpack at Tuesday afternoon’s Urban County Council Meeting, with Lexington leaders spending the first hour and 15 minutes answering more than 50 questions from councilmembers, echoing residents’ frustration with snow and ice removal.

Council at-large, Chuck Ellinger II, said, “We’re all frustrated; the community is frustrated. We’re literally holding the school at this point almost hostage because the kids can’t get to school, the businesses, and people can’t get to work.”

On Feb. 3, the city council said workers have logged more than 10,000 hours collectively. They have about 70 vehicles and are working with five contracting partners.
