Suspect identified in Lexington shooting involving 3 officers

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Officials with the Kentucky State Police (KSP) have released the name of the man who was hospitalized on Tuesday after reportedly being shot by three Lexington policeofficers.

During a Feb. 3 news conference, department leaders said officers received a license plate reader alert around 2:29 p.m. for a car associated with a 40-year-old man who had outstanding felony warrants from North Carolina.

The suspect, identified as Brooks Janzen Plemmons, from Clemmons, North Carolina, reportedly had multiple felony warrants, which were confirmed to Lexington police by officials with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office. Those warrants included:

  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • Felony assault by strangulation
  • First-degree kidnapping
  • Felony discharge of a weapon into an occupied dwelling
  • Habitual misdemeanor assault
  • Interfering with emergency communications
  • Assault by pointing a gun

The Lexington Police Department said the vehicle was located by analysts in the department’s Real-Time Intelligence Center (RTIC) on Leestown Road near Forbes Road. Additionally, a drone and the Air Support Unit kept officers updated on where the car went.
