Task force gives final report on how to help make Lexington streets safer

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — In 2022, the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council adopted Complete Streets, a policy designed to re-imagine how people move through Lexington, whether by car, bike, on foot, or using public transportation.

Many of the plan’s goals could take years or even decades to complete. That is why, in 2025, the Street Safety Task Force was formed to focus on short-term changes.

“I bike to work, and I cross the street almost every day, and there’s been several times where I’m like, ‘Whoa, that person was too close,’ and I think if I’ve done that, someone else has done that,” Sylvia Cassidy, LFUCG legislative aide, said.
