GEORGETOWN, Ky. (FOX 56) — On Wednesday, Toyota unveiled plans for its new-and-improved 2027 Highlander. Where are the innovative new models being assembled? The answer is right here in the Bluegrass.
On Feb. 10, Toyota announced its design and manufacturing specs for the 2027 Highlander, touting a 320-mile estimated total driving range, which is at the longer end of today’s average EV ranges, per the Department of Energy. The newest Toyota also features available front- or all-wheel drive and a combined 338 horsepower with over 320 pounds of torque.

“With a stunning new look inside and out, and seating for up to seven, the latest Highlander is the all-electric Toyota built to carry the whole crew,” Toyota wrote.
Leaders with Toyota wrote that the batteries for Toyota’s new EVs would be sourced from a newly opened plant in North Carolina before they’re assembled at the manufacturing facility in Georgetown.

Officials with the company said the 2027 Highlander would be Toyota’s first three-row battery-electric vehicle for the national market, as well as the first all-electric vehicle assembled in the US.
