A candidate for Lexington’s 9th District Urban County Council seat was arrested Friday on a charge of second-degree assault, a Class C felony, according to Fayette County jail records.
Matt Eugene Miniard, 69, was booked into the Fayette County Detention Center on Friday evening after Lexington Metro Police officers arrested him in the 100 Block of Burley Ave. The arresting officer was identified as Lopez-Cruz. No bond amount was listed, and an expected release date was not available as of Saturday.
Under Kentucky law, second-degree assault involves intentionally causing serious physical injury, or causing physical injury with a deadly weapon or dangerous instrument. The charge carries a potential sentence of five to 10 years in prison…
