2 Kentucky school districts close due to illness. What we know

At least two Kentucky school districts, Spencer County Schools and Frankfort Independent Schools, are moving to nontraditional instruction Feb. 19-20 due to high levels of illness among staff and students, district officials said.

In Spencer County, in-person activities will only be available Feb. 19-20 at the Tiger Cub Village, an early childhood education center, Superintendent Willie Foster said in a statement.

Frankfort Independent Schools officials said they chose to close facilities Feb. 18 and through the rest of the week due to an “overwhelming” number of illnesses.

“Our attendance has suffered severely, in both students and staff,” district officials said in a statement Feb. 17. “As always, our top priority is the health and safety of our students.”…
