LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — For one night only, legendary horror buff and TV show host Joe Bob Briggs, known across the nation for his love of cult-classic movies and drive-in theaters, is set to visit Lexington.
After success in the late 1980s from his self-titled stage show, Briggs hosted the TNT weekly variety show “Monstervision,” which aired throughout the 90s, ending in September 2000.

Despite Joe-Bob’s decades of movie critiques, comments, and impressive technical know-how about every aspect of movie history and production, he’s possibly more famous now than he’s ever been due to the success of the Shudder series “The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs,” where, accompanied by cohost Darcy the Mail Girl, Briggs breaks down new and long-loved horror films from the original 1922 “Nosferatu,” directed by F.W. Murnau, to John Carpenter’s “The Thing” and Ti West’s “The Innkeepers.”

According to Shudder, a horror-exclusive streaming service run by parent company AMC, The Last Drive-In has seen seven seasons since the show’s streaming premiere in the summer of 2018.
The April 11 event, titled “Joe Bob Briggs: How Rednecks Saved Hollywood,” is a journey through history guided by the legendary film buff as he passes down his movie knowledge on why the redneck is the scariest monster in all of film history, with visual evidence, the existential difference between “Forrest Gump”and “Sling Blade,” and much more…
