Even after Tuesday night’s win over South Carolina, Kentucky’s season is spiralling, and Mark Pope is flailing on the recruiting trail in his second year. The Wildcats do not have any commits in the 2026 or 2027 classes, but on Tuesday, they received a bit of unexpected good news about their pursuit of 2028 four-star Kameron Mercer.
Mercer, a Cincinnati, Ohio native, is the No. 11-ranked player in the country according to 247Sports Composite, and is the No. 1 shooting guard in the 2028 class. On3 ranks him as the No. 1 point guard. He’s a five-star prospect according to ESPN’s rankings.
