Lexington man sentenced to 10 years in 2023 shooting death of Kevin Reel

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Nearly three years after Kevin Reel was shot and killed in a Lexington parking lot, the man convicted of his death was sentenced Thursday to 10 years in prison.

Fayette Circuit Judge Thomas Travis agreed with the jury’s recommendation to pass down the maximum sentence for Scott Lawless, convicted of second-degree manslaughter.

At Thursday’s sentencing hearing, Kevin Reel’s mother, Kathy Reel, described what life has been like for her over the last three years. Through tears, she says happy memories of Kevin also bring the pain of grief…
