GEORGETOWN, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — The Georgetown Police Department is warning residents about a phone scam reported in the community involving someone posing as a police officer.

Police said an elderly resident contacted the department after receiving a call from someone claiming to be a law enforcement officer and attempting to pressure them into sending money to resolve a supposed legal issue.
