Former Kentucky athlete arrested again after manslaughter indictment in baby’s death

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — The former Kentucky student athlete charged in connection with the death of her newborn baby was arrested again on Thursday.

Laken Snelling was arrested in August 2025 after investigators reportedly found the remains of a baby boy wrapped in a towel, inside a trash bag, in a closet of her Park Avenue home. On March 11, a grand jury indicted Snelling on a manslaughter charge.

Snelling has been out on bond since her August arrest, living with her parents in Tennessee after posting the $100,000 surety bond. An arrest warrant was issued on Wednesday following the indictment.

Jail records show that she was booked in the Fayette County Detention Center on Thursday, March 12.
