Kentucky kids locked in closet by parents left bleeding as clawed at wall to escape, police say

Authorities in Kentucky report that a mother and father locked their nonverbal children inside a closet, and the kids desperately tried to escape, clawing at the interior until their fingers bled.

Stephanie Harmer, 36, and Casey Farthing, 41, are currently being held at the Madison County Detention Center. Court records reviewed by Law&Crime report that they face charges of first-degree criminal abuse of a child 12 years of age or under, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, and first-degree criminal mischief of a residential rental property.

According to an arrest report obtained by WDKY, the police were contacted by a landlord in Richmond, Kentucky. The landlord discovered the apartment had been left in “deplorable conditions” by former tenants, Harmer and Farthing, who allegedly caused approximately $2,500 in damage to the residence…
