Kentucky school districts face backlash over snow, ice response

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Many parents in Fayette and Jessamine counties are upset about how the school systems handled the sporadic snow and ice central Kentucky saw Monday morning.

On March 17, roads quickly became a frozen nightmare for many across the commonwealth. The unexpected winter blast caught school districts off guard.

Jessamine County Schools decided to move forward with school, saying buses full of students were already rolling by the time conditions worsened.

“If kids were already on buses, it’s hard to take them back, especially if there was no parent at home,” said Jessamine County parent Kevin Massie. “It was unforeseen, and it came really quick, and I don’t think people could really prepare for that 30-minute burst of snow that we had.”…
