Funeral home worker sentenced for scamming Kentucky charity using identities of deceased children

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — A former Lexington mortician who was convicted of stealing the identities of deceased children in a scheme to defraud a central Kentucky charity that supports grieving families has learned his sentence.

The Department of Justice announced that Ronald Jerome Woolfolk Jr., 26, was sentenced on Tuesday, March 31. At the time of the crime, he was employed as a mortician’s assistant in Fayette County.

The charity he targeted was identified in court documents only as “Charity 1,” which is a 501(c) (3) organization in Georgetown that covers funeral, cremation, and cemetery costs for children who die unexpectedly. He submitted around 23 funding requests using his funeral home email address…
