LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) –
We’re watching the threat of severe weather for Monday night closely. Before we get there, the forecast looks very nice to end the weekend and start the work week. After a cloudy start, we will see sunshine break through as the clouds break up by the early afternoon. Highs will top out in the mid 70s. Monday night will feature clear skies and lows in the lower 50s. More sunshine will be with us during the day on Monday and lead to temperatures topping out in the lower 80s.
This heat will fuel our thunderstorm threat Monday night. We are declaring Monday night, Tuesday, and Wednesday morning First Alert Weather Days as severe weather looks likely in at least two rounds. The first round starts late Monday night and carries us through the early morning hours of Tuesday. A strong squall line containing damaging winds will likely blow in from west to east starting late Monday evening. Make sure to have the WKYT First Alert weather app downloaded and notifications turned on to receive severe weather alerts…
