57-year-old accused of killing 1, assaulting another in Lexington enters guilty plea

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — A 57-year-old Lexington man accused of beating another to death filed a guilty plea on Monday, according to court documents.

On the morning of June 21, 2024, officials with the Lexington Police Department said officers had been called to the 100 block of Old Georgetown Street in response to reports of an assault with a weapon.

When they arrived, investigators found Charles McDowell, 57, suffering from blunt force trauma injuries. He was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene.

Court records show that in September 2024, Roger Wiley, who was 55 at the time, was indicted for murder in connection with McDowell’s death and second-degree assault on a second victim who was allegedly injured…
