Trial set for Lexington man accused of killing 2 in crash while driving high

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — A December trial period has been set for the man accused of killing a man and a woman in 2022 while driving under the influence of marijuana in Lexington.

Court records show that in August 2022, Evelyn and David Powers, both of Lexington, were killed at Dogwood Trace Boulevard after sustaining multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

The following summer, 47-year-old Eric Cobb of Lexington was indicted on two charges of second-degree manslaughter and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of marijuana, first offense.

An arrest citation shows that on July 23, 2023, Cobb turned himself in to law enforcement in connection with the indictment warrant.
