Drought conditions impact Frankfort waterways ahead of Memorial Day weekend

Drought conditions in Kentucky are affecting water levels on Elkhorn Creek and the Kentucky River near Frankfort, with one local business monitoring the situation closely.

Canoe Kentucky co-owner Nathan Depenbrock says Elkhorn Creek is experiencing historically low water levels, though the canoe and kayak business continues to operate.

“On the Elkhorn Creek, normal summertime levels are three feet on the gauge, we’re running right in that 2.1 range right now, which is pretty low,” Depenbrock said…
