LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Sonny’s BBQ is holding a fundraiser to help support a Lexington police officer who was injured in the line of duty in April.
Police said Officer Kevin Van Wert was seriously injured after Naqeeb Mufallah allegedly sped off during a traffic stop as the officer held on to the car.
Van Wert’s body hit a light pole before he fell to the ground, according to police, and he has undergone several surgeries…
