LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Fayette County Public Schools leaders addressed community questions about budget concerns Thursday evening. It comes days before a vote on an $880 million budget proposal for the upcoming fiscal year.
KY 120 United AFT union members protested before the meeting against cuts of 120 salaried and hourly positions across the district.
“We’re still trying to sort through: how did this happen? Why did it happen? Where’s the money? But more importantly, why is it that the responsibility of these mistakes is falling on the heads of our rank and file employees?” said Sarah Green, vice president of KY 120 United AFT.
