OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Steadier light rain is what we’ll start the day with moving south to north through the area. As that moves out we’ll see move scattered shower and storm development take shape this afternoon and evening. That means rain, downpours and lightning are in play at any point today.
The warmest part of the day will likely be early in the afternoon in the upper 70s before any new showers and storms pop up. Dew points will be higher today and SE wind gusts hit 20 mph at times too.
More on and off showers and a few storms are likely overnight into Saturday morning. Some of those could be a little stronger to start Saturday but overall the severe threat is low again Saturday. The best odds for rain are Saturday morning but could linger as late as 3pm.
Rain and lightning delays are very much in play for the NCAA baseball regional in Lincoln. They should be able to play the games but things may not happen on time.
Bank on a muggy one for the entire area with relatively high dew points all day.
Most of the evening on Saturday looks pretty quiet but a round of showers and storms are possible overnight into Sunday again. Sunday morning and a few evening storms are possible too with a pretty quiet middle of the day.
Overall rainfall for the next 3 days should be the heaviest on the Nebraska side with some totals over 1″ possible. Lighter amounts are expected in Iowa. A few spots over 2″ are possible too…
