The University of Nebraska’s elimination from the Women’s College World Series on Sunday marked the end of a stellar collegiate career for Colorado kid Ava Kuszak.
The Huskers returned to softball’s pinnacle event for the first time since 2013 this spring, and Holy Family’s three-time state champion reintroduced Lincoln to the national stage with a walk-off home run in extra innings at Oklahoma City’s Devon Park on Friday night.
Kuszak’s two-out, two-run shot in the 10th inning lifted Nebraska past Arkansas, 5-3, securing the Huskers’ first Women’s College World Series victory since 2002.
