Grand jury clears Lincoln officers after man dies by suicide in cruiser

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Two Lincoln police officers put on leave after a man fatally shot himself while in police custody have been cleared by a grand jury.

According to court documents filed May 22, the Lincoln Police Department and the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office concluded that the two officers mistakenly missed the handgun but did not find any criminal violations.
