Bird swoops, pecks people on Rock Island Trail

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – A bird is terrorizing Lincoln families on the Rock Island Trail. A red-winged black bird has been seen swooping in and pecking trail-goers.

City officials believe the bird is guarding a nest somewhere near the attacks, just a couple blocks south of Leon’s Grocery near 33rd Street.

“It’s kind of frightening,” said Jean Holt, trail-goer and attacked by bird. “I mean, it makes this sound that you hear it right before it gets you. Yeah. But it’s a good daddy bird taking care of its nest.”…
