Lancaster County Problem Solving Courts divert people from crowded correctional facilities, give graduates new lease on life

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Savea Villalobos is one of the newest graduates of the Lancaster County Adult Drug Court program, a post-plea treatment plan that lasts for a year and a half at minimum. She graduated mid-June.

“I just got tired of, I was going to jail numerous times,” she explained. “I have a three-year-old son and I have a family that loves me. And I just wanted to do better, and do better for my kid and myself.”

Villalobos has spent much of the last 18 months or so in this rehabilitative treatment; members receive individualized substance use and mental health treatment, and have access to other services like family support, education and employment services, housing and transportation help among other things…
