Grand Island, Neb — Patriotic music and tributes to military service filled the Nebraska State Fair as the annual Veterans Day program honored those who have served with exhibits, discounts and a ceremony recognizing their sacrifices.
The program, described as a long-standing tradition, included remarks from host and Navy veteran Ed Meedel, who tied the celebration to the nation’s upcoming semiquincentennial.
“2026 marks the 250th year since the adoption of the Declaration of Independence of July 4th, 1776. This anniversary is an opportunity to reflect on our nation’s founding, recognize its achievements and challenges, and look ahead to the future.
