Will Compton hasn’t been out of the NFL an entire year but is starting to make waves as a media personality. He really seems to be enjoying life outside of football and taking it easy in Las Vegas.
The proceedings took a sudden turn, however, after Compton fielded a question from DNVR’s Ryan Koenigsberg that began when the reporter asked a fill-in-the-blank question during Super Bowl Opening Night. He wanted to know what happened 4,819 days ago, which the former Husker was stumped trying to answer. And, of course, it’s the last time Nebraska beat Colorado on the gridiron.
Compton didn’t even respond and decided to exit stage left. Perhaps the best part is that CU’s current winning streak has lasted longer than his NFL career.
BuffsBeat’s Brian Schaible caught up with Compton later in the night and was again asked about the longstanding rivalry. He said this year will be different for Nebraska because it’s “Matt Rhule’s second year” in Lincoln.
“Look, hats off to Coach Prime. He’s an incredible coach, but what we’ve got in-house at Nebraska… The culture coach Rhule is building at Nebraska… All the position coaches he has there…. The culture and everything else… I think this is where they make a big jump. Look for the boys to battle now for the conference title.”
