Kasey Martinson, a 56-year-old semi-driver from Sanborn, North Dakota, has been ruled competent to stand trial following a series of charges in two Nebraska counties, as reported by FOX Nebraska and Nebraska TV.
The charges stem from an incident last December when Martinson allegedly struck a Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) vehicle and led troopers on an hour-long chase.
This development comes after a Lancaster County District Court judge’s ruling on Monday, with Martinson having undergone efforts to restore his competency at the Lincoln Regional Center since last March.
Martinson faces charges in Lancaster County District Court, including assault using a motor vehicle, failure to stop and render aid, and operating a vehicle to avoid arrest.
Additionally, he is charged in Seward County Court with attempted assault on an officer using a motor vehicle. These charges are a result of a December 19, 2022, incident where Martinson, driving a semi pulling a flatbed trailer, was stopped by an NSP trooper near the Waverly Interstate 80 exit for reckless driving.
