A man was arrested in Lincoln after allegedly swinging a sword at a motel guest and threatening their life, with charges including terroristic threats and weapon possession.
A disturbing incident unfolded at a Lincoln motel on Wednesday, leading to the arrest of 23-year-old Grant Soderstrom, who is accused of wielding a sword and threatening to kill a guest. The altercation took place at the Travelodge located near 52nd Street and Cornhusker Highway, as reported by KLKN.
According to an arrest affidavit, the confrontation began when Soderstrom, armed with a sword, allegedly smashed the window of a motel room around 2:45 PM.
He is then said to have swung the sword at the room’s occupant, whom he had reportedly threatened to kill the previous night.
The affidavit details a tense struggle during which the guest managed to disarm Soderstrom and threatened to call the police. Soderstrom allegedly retrieved the sword and fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.
Lincoln Police officers later apprehended Soderstrom near 45th and Turner streets, still in possession of the sword. He was arrested and faces charges of making terroristic threats and possession of a deadly weapon as a prohibited person.
