Election Results: US House Nebraska District 1

LINCOLN, Neb. (KCAU) — Mike Flood is looking to be reelected to the U.S. House of Representatives for a second full term.

The former speaker of the Nebraska Legislature is again running as a Republican. He was sworn into the position on July 12, 2022 after a special election against Patty Pansing Brooks (D) . The special election came about after former Rep. Jeff Fortenberry resigned due to a lawsuit that accused him of receiving illegal campaign contributions.

Flood would then go on to win the seat again in Nov. 2022, defeating Brooks a second time by 17 points.

His opponent this time around is Democratic candidate Carol Blood . She is a state senator who previously ran for governor of Nebraska in 2022. However, she lost to Republican Jim Pillen by 25 points .

Nebraska’s 1st congressional district represents the capital city of Lincoln, as well as cities such as Norfolk and Fremont.
