Alabama Projected to Lose 2025 Commit to Big Ten Powerhouse

Kalen DeBoer has constructed the No. 1 recruiting class in the country with 23 commitments from the 2025 recruiting cycle, but there seem to be some cracks in the foundation.

On Saturday night, five-star wide receiver commit Caleb Cunningham was predicted to flip to Ole Miss, and on Tuesday, four-star linebacker pledge Dawson Merritt is now being projected to flip to Nebraska .

On3 recruiting directors Steve Wiltfong and Chad Simmons, who both logged predictions for Cunningham, are both projecting the Kansas native to end up a Cornhusker.

The No. 115 player in the country and No. 14 EDGE in America has been committed to Alabama since June 26, but both Wiltfong and Simmons have a 60% confidence level in Merritt flipping.

Merritt is one of six linebacker commitments in Alabama’s class and one of three EDGE-specific players that would fill defensive coordinator Kane Wommack’s WOLF positions, which has been the premium position for Que Robinson. Merritt is also one of 13 four-stars in the Tide’s top-ranked class, which also includes five five-star recruits.
