MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – Former Midland Legacy Rebel’s quarterback Marcos Davila has committed to the University of Nebraska after spending his redshirt freshman year at Purdue, where he was unable to see the field as the Boilermakers went 1-11 in 2024. Davila still has four years of eligibility remaining as he joins the Cornhuskers.
Marcos is the all-time leading passer at Legacy. A big reason for choosing Purdue was Graham Harrell, the former offensive coordinator who was fired in late September.
Davila was only in the transfer portal for two weeks before committing to the University of Nebraska. The Cornhuskers recently named Dana Holgerson the offensive coordinator after serving as a team consultant. Holgerson was the offensive coordinator at Texas Tech where he coached Graham Harrell, who then coached Marcos at Purdue.
When Dana was the head coach at Houston, he offered Davila, so they already have a relationship and he is familiar with his ability. The Nebraska Cornhuskers went 6-6 in 2024 awaiting their bowl game against Boston College, and they open up their 2025 season against the Cincinnati Bearcats.
