Volunteer firefighters knock down vacant house fire south of Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Volunteer firefighters from four different departments worked to put out a large fire that broke out at a vacant house just south of Lincoln.

Hickman Fire and Rescue were initially paged out a little after 11 p.m. Sunday night to the area of 38th and Saltillo for flames seen shooting from the uninhabited home, which is south of the intersection and just north of Highway 2.

Volunteers from Southwest, Southeast, and Bennet also responded to the scene to help knock down the blaze, which also spurred a small grass fire to the west of the house, according to a reporter at the scene…
