MADISON COUNTY, Nebraska (KCAU) — Multiple fire departments were needed to respond to a fire in northeast Nebraska on Sunday.
According to a press release from the Norfolk Fire Division , first responders were dispatched to 83776 556th Avenue, about three miles south of Norfolk at around 5:04 P.M. Sunday evening.
Three dead in Lawton, IA house fire
When fire crews first arrived on scene, a house had already been engulfed and had collapsed into its basement. Several outbuildings and some pasture and fields were also on fire. A propane tank on the property also exploded as the first units arrived on scene.
It took 40 firefighters about 50 minutes to control the fire, and another three hours to fully extinguish the flames. The Norfolk Fire Division was assisted by Stanton County Emergency Management, Stanton Fire, Battle Creek Fire, Madison Fire, Hadar Fire, the Stanton County Sheriff’s Office, Elkhorn Rural Power District and Fischer Tree Service.
