SIDNEY, Neb. (NCN) – A strong storm system is expected to bring high winds, snow and rapidly dropping temperatures to the region Tuesday evening into Wednesday, creating hazardous travel conditions, according to the National Weather Service.
Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for Banner, Kimball, Cheyenne, Dawes, Sioux and Niobrara counties in Nebraska, as well as parts of southeast Wyoming, including Laramie and Goshen counties. Snowfall totals of 1 to 5 inches are expected, with gusty winds up to 55 mph creating blowing snow and reduced visibility. A flash freeze is also possible Tuesday evening as temperatures drop rapidly, potentially leading to slick road conditions.
A High Wind Warning has been issued for portions of north central, panhandle, southwest, and west central Nebraska, including Cherry, Keya Paha, Garden, Grant, Hooker, Arthur, McPherson, Deuel, Keith, Perkins and Chase counties.
