Hickman woman accused of drunkenly driving school bus appears in court

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – A former Norris School District bus driver accused of transporting children to and from school while intoxicated made her first court appearance on Friday.

Betty Johnson, 67, was charged with DUI .15+, first offense DUI and three counts of transporting a child while intoxicated in Lancaster County Court. She pled not guilty to each of the misdemeanor counts.

The School Resource Officer at Norris Public Schools was alerted on Wednesday to a bus driver who was suspected to be under the influence. The transportation director reported Johnson had slurred speech and was not making sense during the noon bus route…
