LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Dan Whitney, known as “Larry the Cable Guy,” hosted his annual Git-R-Done Golf Classic at Firethorn Golf Club Monday, June 2, 2025. Whitney has been hosting the tournament and a gala since 2008 that all help raise money for his Git-R-Done Foundation. The foundation donates to numerous benefactors with one of the biggest being the Bryan Medical Center.
“We just love doing it, we love doing it here. The celebrities that show up and fly in from all over the country is what makes my tournament pretty unique,” Whitney said.
120 golfers participated in the tournament in groups of 5. Of the pairings, each group of 5 had one celebrity golfer with the group. The celebrities every year include a wide range of personalities. This year 5 former Nebraska Football players are amongst the celebrities that includes: Johnny Rodgers, Eric Crouch, Ahman Green, Grant Wistrom, and Neil Smith.
